Sometimes In Dreams

Last night, I had another completely insane dream.  There were wood pile climbing races.  There was a falling satellite that turned out to be an old-school overhead projector.   There was a planning meeting with my “colleagues” in my backyard in the middle of the night.  Alice in Wonderland made a cameo.  I got chased by a huge, scary dog.  Words were making rhymes on their own.  I dream kissed with a hot celebrity who strangely was the perfect height.  There were things going on that did not even make sense in my dream, let alone in real life.

Yet within this madness, there were two very distinct glimmers of hope. The first was the words on the binder I was given.  In my dream, it was the theme of our next unit.  Yet, even in my dream I was able to remember that we had already covered feelings and what our real next unit was about.  Thus, I came to the conclusion that those words were a gift for me.   They were “You can choose to be happy.”

The other lucid thought in this mental mania was the conversation I had with the tall, famous, and blond visitor to my dream.  Those words were not lines from any movie, but they were absolutely perfect.

God knows not only your name, but your married name.  He knows who you’ll marry.  He knows their personality.  He knows which quirks and personality traits you can put up with. He knows it all and He is planning it, weaving it together perfectly.

When my dream man told me this, I was so happy that I kissed him.  Then some of the crazy stuff happened so I forced myself to wake up.

You probably think I am loony by now.  I swear that I am perfectly sane.

Once awake I used my best 4 AM logic to think this dream through.  If you ignore all the deranged details, you are left with the truth.  I believe that God is omniscient.  He knows what has been, what is, and all that is to come.  Last time I checked, a few specific details about my own future are included in that blanket term “all.”  I believe that God has a plan for my life.

I believe that God can speak to us in a multitude of ways, including dreams.  When you consider some of the dreams and visions seen by people in the Bible, wood piles and falling classroom materials seem pretty normal.  If you doubt me, read about John’s vision in Revelation.
